Last night, the Paris Opera Ballet’s performance of Giselle was broadcast live from the Harris Theater onto the Pritzker Pavilion stage. Act II opened just as the sun was setting and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
The Simulcast was completely free and open to the public, and over 14,000 people filled Millennium Park last night to see it. We still have 5 performances to go and everyone is exhausted, but last night was so worth it.
Thank you, Courtney! Once I get through this completely mad Paris Opera Ballet thing, I will reward myself with countless hours of looking at pretty things.
Also, can I please go to the hotel in Bhutan now?

Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market was featured on Apartment Therapy this week! It’s one of my favorite places to go while visiting my homeland. If you’re ever in Toronto, you MUST eat a peameal bacon (a.k.a. REAL Canadian bacon) sandwich from Carousel Bakery. I really don’t fucking care if you’re a vegetarian, it’s required.
Weekend highlights
Midsommarfest is this weekend!
Chicago has countless neighborhood festivals, but I must say it’s one of my favorites. The vendors and bands are much the same as any other fest, but Andersonville is the perfect setting - gorgeous flower shops (see photo), antique stores, art galleries, gays with babies and/or dogs, and beer in the street.
